Our Company

A few years back, a ceramic artist and a glass artist came together to form Colour de Verre. The founders based their new product line on innovation, superior design and craftsmanship. Since then the Company has grown rapidly by incorporating the skills and talents of other artists and craftspeople — all devoted to these concepts.

Colour de Verre molds are made by small art potteries in Portland, Oregon rather than being mass-produced in large, offshore factories.

Craig Smith, President, Cofounder

Craig Smith Craig is relatively new to the world of glass. He started his career as a classically trained ceramist receiving his education from Maine College of Art. Early in his career, he produced both one-of-a-kind art pieces sold in galleries and production lines sold in finer department stores such as Neiman Marcus. His work has been featured in the Smithsonian’s Renwick Gallery presentations. Later in his career, Craig developed complex ceramic and porcelain mold systems for other artists and industries throughout North America and Europe. In 2002, Craig transitioned to glass. After almost a year of research, he developed the ceramic mold systems on which the Colour de Verre product line is based.

Craig is in charge of product implementation. He is also responsible for the majority of the Company’s designs.

Jayne Persico, Cofounder

Jayne PeriscoJayne is an internationally recognized glass artist and educator and brings her considerable design skill and industry knowledge to the Company. She maintains a tireless schedule teaching classes on glass casting with Colour de Verre molds, glass fusing, glass and wire jewelry designs, and kiln formed bracelets.

Among the educational programs at which she teaches are Hot Glass Horizons, Glass Craft Expo, Glass Extravaganza and Glass Visions. She also teaches at numerous studios throughout North America and Europe. These include The Studio at The Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, New York; Pangur Bawn Studio in Dublin, Ireland; and Glass Forum in Norway.

Jayne is a published author. Her books include Innovative Adornments,Jayne Persico Presents Kiln Formed Bracelets, and Kiln Glass Casting with Colour de Verre.

Lawrence Jacobsen, Cofounder

Lawrence JacobsenLarry brings many years’ marketing and technology experience to the Company. He is responsible for managing the relationships with the art potteries and machine shops that produce Colour de Verre’s products; authoring the Company’s newsletters, website, project sheets, and other support material; and the Company’s business affairs.

Larry’s art and crafting skills are “still developing,” but he very much enjoys any time he gets to spend in the studio honing those skills.
